December 11, 2009. Last November, our team decided to have a meaningful Christmas Party, and last week we had it celebrated in the street by giving gifts to the less fortunate ones. We tour around Fuenta Osmeña (rotunda), and look for people who we think needs the gift, shall I say the worthy ones.
You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give. ~Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet
We should give as we would receive, cheerfully, quickly, and without hesitation; for there is no grace in a benefit that sticks to the fingers. ~Seneca
Merry Christmas even to you who feel that you have no-one. You have. You have Christ. When you live in darkness the meaning of Christ is that we know that through Him we will one day come to light. – Ritva Oksanen, Finnish actress
(a 20-year old mom in the street..
)
Every time we love, every time we give, it’s Christmas.
(this grandpa waited for his wife, he said that she’ll get him the next day…
does that mean that he is going to sleep there?
)
“Christmas is most truly Christmas when we celebrate it by giving the light of love to those who need it most.”
(this i makes me want to cry when I saw him smiling
after we gave something for him, and we greeted him
“Merry Christmas Manong!”, and he replied the same…)
Kudos to my teammates, we did a really great job. I am very grateful that I’m able to do something good this Christmas. Congratulations to all of us!
For us!
My Grown Up Christmas List
Do you remember me
I sat upon your knee
I wrote to you
With childhood fantasies
Well, I’m all grown up now
And still need help somehow
I’m not a child
But my heart still can dream
So here’s my lifelong wish
My grown up christmas list
Not for myself
But for a world in need
No more lives torn apart
That wars would never start
And time would heal the heart
And everyone would have a friend
And right would always win
And love would never end oh,
This is my grown up Christmas list
As children we believed
The grandest sight to see
Was something shiny
Wrapped beneath the tree
But heaven only knows
That packages and bows
Can never heal
A hurting human soul
No more lives torn apart
That wars would never start
And time would heal all hearts
And everyone would have a friend
And right would always win
And love would never end
Oh, This is my grown up christmas list
What is this illusion called the innocence of youth
Maybe only in our blind belief can we ever find the truth
No more lives torn apart
That wars would never start
And time would heal all hearts
And everyone would have a friend
And right would always win
And love would never end, oh
This is my grown up christmas list
This is my only life long wish
This is my grown up christmas list
THANK YOU, LORD,
for the gift of Your love.
May I be a shining
example of that love to others.
Amen.
